Tiger Math vs SplashLearn: Focused Math or a Broader Learning Programme?

Compare Tiger Math and SplashLearn by learning focus, family access and paid features. A sourced guide to choosing focused math or math and reading.

Consider SplashLearn when you want math and reading resources within a broader learning service. Consider Tiger Math when your goal is focused math practice for ages 6–12, with activities and progress available offline. The useful comparison starts with what your family will use each week.

Tiger Math publishes this guide. We checked official descriptions on 2 October 2026; we did not conduct a hands-on test or a study comparing learning gains. Paid features and checkout terms can change, so confirm the offer shown before buying.

When SplashLearn is the better fit

If you want to organise math and reading in one service, SplashLearn's wider scope is relevant. Its membership documentation describes Math & English and Math & English + Books options. Resources depend on the subscription, so inspect the actual plan rather than assuming every advertised resource is included.

The website offers monthly, annual and family annual billing. SplashLearn explicitly says website and in-app plans, prices and billing frequencies may differ. Compare the plan on the platform where you intend to buy. See its current membership documentation.

A broader service makes sense when your child will actually use more than one subject. If reading is already well supported elsewhere, additional reading resources may be less important to your choice.

When Tiger Math is a useful SplashLearn alternative

You may be looking for a SplashLearn alternative because you need a simpler practice task: a few division questions, reading a clock, or reviewing a times table. Tiger Math's listing describes topic-specific activities and locally saved progress. That can suit a family choosing an activity for a particular skill rather than organising multiple subjects in one service. Check the current Tiger Math listing.

Try one topic before choosing paid access. For multiplication, ask your child to explain a grouping or draw an array after answering. If the app answer is correct but the explanation is unclear, that gives you something concrete to work on together. Our times tables chart can support that conversation.

What should you compare before paying?

Write down the activities you need, the number of children using them and where practice will happen. Then inspect three things in the actual offer:

  1. Included access: which topics, reports or other resources require payment?
  2. Billing terms: what is charged today, whether it renews, and how cancellation works?
  3. Family access: which child profiles and devices the purchase covers?

This guide does not quote a Tiger Math lifetime price or promise that it is cheaper. Use the purchase screen's current price and terms. For SplashLearn, distinguish website membership terms from in-app offers.

For travel, Tiger Math advertises offline practice. We have not established an equivalent offline guarantee for SplashLearn from the sources used here. Test the exact activity before relying on it without a connection; an unverified feature should not be treated as absent.

What does the research say about math games?

Learning gains cannot be inferred from library size or a subscription price. Tokac, Novak and Thompson's 2019 meta-analysis found a small overall advantage for mathematics video games compared with traditional instruction, with results varying across 24 studies. That is general evidence, not a trial comparing these apps.

Pick practice that matches what your child is learning and check whether they can explain a related problem away from the screen. This is practical advice rather than a guarantee of attainment or a replacement for their teacher's guidance.

Frequently asked questions

Does SplashLearn include reading?

Its documented website membership options include Math & English, with an additional Books option. Check which resources the offer includes before subscribing.

Is Tiger Math cheaper than SplashLearn?

This comparison does not establish that. Prices, purchase routes and access differ. Compare the current offers for the features and family access you need.

Which is better for math-only practice?

Tiger Math is worth trying for a focused math task within its age range. SplashLearn may be preferable if its broader resources or learning organisation fit your family. Neither is shown here to produce better math results.
